Kohls Partners with Bozeman Deaconess Hospital to Encourage Children to Eat Smart

March 27, 2013

For over 100 years, Bozeman Deaconess Hospital has served families by improving community health and quality of life. Kohls Department Store is now joining the effort. Kohls, through the Kohls Cares program, is donating not only financially, but Kohls Associates are also giving their time and effort to the mission of improving community health.

Kohls will present its first financial contribution of $5,444 to Bozeman Deaconess Foundation on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 10:00 am during the Family Wellness Day on the Bozeman Deaconess campus. The gift will go toward the Kohls Kids Eat Smart with Bozeman Deaconess program. This partnership is designed to challenge children to meet the new dietary guidelines in efforts to reduce child obesity, chronic disease and improve academic performance.

The Family Wellness Day is an annual event that offers a variety of health and laboratory screenings and wellness tips. Nearly two dozen health screenings and health information will be available for both adults and children. Children can attend fitness activities, have their faces painted by Snow White, visit an ambulance and medical helicopter and learn healthy eating tips, all at no charge.

Kohls commitment to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital is made possible through the Kohls Cares philanthropic initiative. Kohls Cares includes a merchandise program featuring $5 books and plush toys where 100% of the net profits go toward supporting hospital partnerships like this one. Kohl's has raised more than $231 million dollars through this merchandise program. In addition to the merchandise program, Kohl's Cares features the Kohl's Cares Scholarship Program, which last year recognized more than 2,300 young volunteers with more than $425,000 in scholarships and prizes. Through Kohls Associates in Action volunteer program, more than 660,000 associates have donated more than 2.2 million hours of their time since 2001 and Kohls has donated more than $63 million to youth-focused nonprofit organizations. Kohls also offers fundraising gift cards for schools and youth-serving organizations. For more information, visit www.Kohls.com/Cares.
