New Arthritis Programs Available at Bozeman Deaconess

Moderate physical activity for just half an hour five times a week has been proven to reduce arthritis pain and stiffness, and improve your mood. Thats why Bozeman Deaconess Rehabilitation Services was pleased to receive a grant from the Arthritis Foundation and Montana Arthritis Program to initiate Programs for Better Living at no cost to participants.

The Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program uses gentle activities to help increase joint flexibility and range of motion while maintaining muscle strength and decreasing pain. This six-week program will meet twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, 1:00-2:00 pm at Bozeman Deaconess Rehabilitation Services, 905 Highland Blvd., Suite 4350.

Walk with Ease can be the first step towards making exercise a habit. This program helps those with arthritis develop a walking plan, stay motivated and manage their pain, and offers instruction on how to exercise safely. The eight-week program also can boost energy, reduce stress and help with weight control. This class will be held three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 2:00-3:00 pm, at Bozeman Deaconess Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine at The Ridge, 4181 Fallon Ave.

Participants are expected to attend all sessions of either program. Classes are limited to ten participants each. Both free programs will be offered for three additional sessions this year. To enroll or for more information, call 406-414-1002.
